In a growing trend across urban and semi-urban areas, more men are now frequenting beauty parlours and investing in skincare and grooming products traditionally associated with women. From facials and hair treatments to high-end facial creams and serums, beauty care is no longer considered a female-only domain.
Beauticians report a steady rise in the number of male clients seeking services such as facial clean-ups, hair spas, and even manicure-pedicure sessions. “Men today are more conscious about their looks and hygiene. They want to look presentable and confident, especially in corporate and social settings,” said one local salon owner.
However, alongside this positive change in self-care habits, health experts are expressing concern about another growing issue — alcohol dependence among some young men. Social drinking, often used as a form of relaxation or stress relief, is reportedly turning into addiction for many.
“While taking care of one’s appearance is a healthy trend, alcohol abuse can quickly turn harmful. We are seeing a rise in cases where young professionals use alcohol to cope with stress or social pressure”.

Authorities and community leaders are urging awareness campaigns to encourage balanced lifestyles — promoting self-care without substance dependency.
